ANSI Standards for formal description techniques



I found this on the comp.specification newsgroup.  You'll note
that X3 is considering standardizing VDM-SL and Z, but not Larch.
I don't plan to make this meeting, but perhaps someone from the
Larch community should go.

    X3 Announces The Formation of a New Technical Committee,
           X3J21-Formal Description Techniques (FDTs)

Washington, DC  - Accredited  Standards Committee X3, Information
Processing Systems  announces the  formation of  a new  Technical
Committee, X3J21, Formal Description Techniques (FDTs).

The new technical committee, X3J21, was established to assume JTC
1 TAG  responsibilities for  the  SC22  TAG  projects  on  Formal
Description Techniques  (FDTs).  These projects currently are JTC
1.22.29, Vienna Definition Method Specification Language (VDM-SL)
and JTC 1.22.45, Z Specification Language (Z).

The TAG  responsibilities include  establishing U.S. positions to
be taken  internationally, recommending  U.S. votes  on New  Work
Items  and   Draft  International   Standards,   selecting   U.S.
delegations to international meeting, and others.

Any individuals  or organizations  who are interested in the work
of X3J21 are invited to participate.

The organizational  meeting of  X3J21 is  scheduled to  begin  at
10:00 am on Sunday, January 9, 1994 at the Clarion Plaza Hotel in
Orlando, Florida.

The  Clarion  Hotel  is  located  at  9700  International  Drive,
Orlando, Florida  32819-8114; the  hotel phone number is 407-352-

Reservations at  government rates  need to be made by December 9,
1993.
